PIA of Pakistan publishes tender for widebody charter

PIA – Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad Quaid-e-Azam Int’l) has issued a request for proposals for the charter of two 250+ seat widebody aircraft for charter operations between June 2022 and November 2022 .

Eligible operators must have valid EASA and IOSA certification and be authorized to operate to both the European Union and the United Kingdom. Preference is given to operators with experience chartering passengers, especially to/from Pakistan, and carriers with a large fleet. The PIA requires the operator to also ensure the availability of a standby aircraft.

PIA requires the aircraft to be 2004 or younger versions. It didn’t set out any specific requirements for cabin types or configurations, although planes with fully flat seats in business class will score higher than others.

Pakistan’s PIA seeks direct links with Australia

PIA – Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad Quaid-e-Azam Int’l) hopes to launch direct flights to Australia at the end of March. If launched, they will be the carrier’s first services to Oceania.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia (CASA) has confirmed to ch-aviation that it received a PIA application for a Foreign Air Operator’s Certificate (FATAOC) on 21 February 2022, for scheduled services between Pakistan and Australia. “The application and subsequent safety assessment will be handled through the normal process applied to overseas AOC holders seeking commercial air transport to/from Australian territory,” a CASA spokesperson said.

According to ARY TV News, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez said the airline has approached CASA for permission to operate twice-weekly flights to Sydney Kingsford Smith from Karachi Int’l and Lahore Int’l. during the last week of March or early April 2022, using B777s.
